The Rocket Pages was created in 2009 to provide an affordable way for local small businesses to advertise in an online business directory. Being a small business owner myself I know how expensive it is to advertise these days. We wanted the Rocket Pages to be a place where the smallest business in Seattle could afford to get their name out there and create new clients. Another reason it was created was to help stimulate the economy here in Seattle. By supporting small local businesses we help them stay in business and not fall prey to the big chain stores that seem to be taking over our town. We hope you decide to join us in creating the most awesome small business directory Seattle has ever seen!

What does it cost?

Since this is one of the main concerns for businesses these days I will address it first.
* Premier Membership- $50.00 per year

Premier Membership – For $50.00/year you will receive a text listing of your business information in the 2011 Rocket Pages. What that includes is… Your business name, your name, phone number, email, web site, business address, business hours and a brief description of your business. Your ad will be placed under the heading of your choice. For example, if you are a gardener you will want to be listed in Gardening or Landscaping. If you want to be placed in multiple headings, each additional heading is $15.00. You also get your ad put up on the “New Ads” page and a linked spot in the monthly update that goes out to 700+ people. People visiting the site will also be able to look you up by the name of your business. Your business logo will also be displayed next to your text ad. You may also include a picture of yourself or any pictures of your products or your store front.

When your membership is close to expiring I will email you to see if you would like to renew. If so great, if not your listing will be deleted once your membership expires.

How will the Rocket Pages be advertised?

This is usually the trickiest part of owning a business. How can I get the word out about my business and not go broke? I have found in the past that word of mouth marketing works better than anything so I am going to be using a lot of that kind of marketing for the Rocket Pages. If you place an ad in the Rocket Pages and start telling people how great it is, especially because you are in it, they are more willing to go check it out as opposed to seeing a TV ad or an ad in a magazine/ newspaper.

Postcards: Every business owner who places an ad in the Rocket Pages will receive 50 postcards promoting the site to hand out to anyone you choose. You can give it to friends, family and clients. If you have a retail store you may want to put them on your counter so people can pick one up. This is part of my word of mouth marketing so please do your part to promote yourself and the other businesses by doing this. The more postcards we hand out the more people will know about the site. Handing out the postcards is a requirement for being in the Rocket Pages.  I personally will be putting them up anywhere I can, coffee shops, grocery stores, anywhere that has a bulletin board. I will also go to many local retail stores and ask if they will display the postcards on their counters for people to take. I will be doing this all year long.

Monthly Update: Every month I send out an update telling all the advertisers and 700+ of my email contacts all about how the Rocket Pages did that month. It will include the Update Sponsor, Site Sponsor, any new businesses that signed up that month and events or specials that Rocket Pages businesses are having that month.

Social Networking: I have a Rocket Pages Facebook page that you can “Like” and I will look your business up and “Like” you back. I frequently post special, new businesses and events that Rocket Pages businesses are having on the FB page. Everyone can put a link to the Rocket Pages on their MySpace, Facebook page, blog or website. This way people going to your site can visit the Rocket Pages. If you would like a Rocket Pages logo let me know and I get email one to you.

Yahoo Groups: Each month I post the Rocket Pages monthly update on my Green Lake Moms and Ballard Moms Yahoo Group. This goes out to over 2000 moms in the area.

Extra Advertising

Site Sponsor: Each month a different Rocket Pages advertiser will be featured at the top of the site giving them some extra exposure. I will be charging $50 for this service. For one month your business name/ logo will appear on the top of the Rocket Pages website with a link to your Rocket Pages ad.

Update Sponsor: Each month a different Rocket Pages advertiser will get their business name mentioned at the top of my monthly update which goes out to 650+ people. I will also be asking for sponsors for the monthly update e-mails. I am charging $25 for this service.

Featured Businesses: Each month I take 5-6 Rocket Pages advertisers and highlight them in the lower section of the sites home page. Each business will have their logo or business name displayed with a link to their website or their ad. I am asking $50 for this service.
